Third Floor

Up on the third floor

Time stood still

You let me gaze into your appetite

And rearrange your will

And all the things you held within

Came flooding down like rain

Running down the gutters

You fell back to sleep again

Up on the third floor

I loved you so

There was no day or night it seemed

Only my rock and roll

And every dance you held me like

You’d never let me go

Then we’d fall asleep and safely keep

The dreams we’d never know

Now the world is empty here without you

I sit and watch my tears on my window pane

I’m still so very glad that I once found you

And in my mind I climb those stairs again

Up on the third floor

I love you so

Sometimes I conjure up the dream

That I never had to go

I pray that time will carry me

Back to the arms I know

We’ll fall asleep, you’ll safely keep me

Keep me here at home

Up on the third floor…
